Dear Community Leader,

I was raised in extreme poverty and endured unthinkable hardships as a child. It was only through the grace of God and sacrifices of several amazing community leaders just like you that I was able to make it out and become the man I am today. Thank you for the work that you do.

It is in that spirit that I invite you to apply for the Urban Awareness USA Founders Grant, where you can receive up to $1,000 in unrestricted funds to support the work you are doing in your community.

– Tracy J. Brown, Founder & CEO, Urban Awareness USA

Causes We Care About

We’re passionate about supporting organizations that serve urban communities by providing programs and services in one or more of the following twelve areas of focus:

At-Risk Youth

I grew up Fayetteville, NC. We lived in EXTREME poverty. By all accounts I was an "At Risk Youth." But God! Today, we support organizations that provide programs and services to "At Risk" youth.

Alcoholism

My mother was an alcoholic throughout my childhood. Today, we support causes that help treat and prevent substance abuse in urban communites.

Single Parents

Because of my mom's addiction, I was raised by my Grandmother. She never received any formal education, but she had a PHD...she Praised Him Daily! Today, we support organizations that provide progams and services to single parents.

Teenage Boys

My teen years were rough. I'm so thankful for all the sports & after school programs that kept me out of trouble. Today, we support organizations that provide programs and services to Teen Boys in urban communities.

Military Families

Sir, Yes Sir!! I joined the Navy immediately after high school. It was a great experience for me. I met scores of wonderful people from all walks of life. Today, we support organizations that provide programs and serivces to active duty military, veterans, first responders and their families.

Christianity

I accepted Christ at the age of 19 while I was in the Navy. The most important decision I've ever made! Today, we support Christian organizations and churches that provide programs and services in urban communities.

Minority Men

After finishing my time with the Navy, I ventured off into the world as a civilian.... LOL... a Young Black Male civilian. Today, we support organizations that provide programs and services to minority men in urban communities.

Mentoring Programs

I've never met or seen my father. But, I've been blessed to have many wonderful mentors in my life to help guide me in everything from starting my first business to founding Urban Awareness USA. Today, we support organizations that provide mentoring programs and services in urban communities.

Community & Economic Development

This issue is exactly why I founded Urban Awareness in 2003. My vision was to create an organization that bridged the gap between communities & the funding those communities needed. Today, we support organizations that provide programs and serivces in the area of Community & Economic Development.

Minority Women

I am blessed to be married to an amazing black woman who loves and supports me in everything I do. She is my friend, my partner and I adore her. Today, we support organizations that provide programs and services for minority women in urban communities.

Sports & Recreation

My son is a freak of an athlete (Just like his dad). He can play anything and we've both benefited from community sports and recreation programs. Today, we support organizations that provide sports and recreation programs and services in urban communities.

College Scholarships

My daughter is a genius (LOL...not  at all like her daddy). She received so many college scholarships to pay for her education that it was almost unfair... its like her daddy runs a national nonprofit that helps individuals and organizations find funding or something. Today, we support organizations that provide programs and services in the area of college scholarships.
